Veterinarian
Dr. Anneke Johnson joined the team at Sleeping Giant Animal Clinic in 2022 and brings with her a deep passion for holistic and geriatric medicine, internal medicine, urgent care, and zoo and wildlife medicine. She is also certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture, integrating both modern and complementary approaches to patient care.
A proud member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Montana Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians, Dr. Johnson is dedicated to advancing animal health through compassionate and comprehensive care. She finds the most rewarding part of being a veterinarian is helping animals and their families—building meaningful relationships with her clients and their beloved pets.
Dr. Johnson earned her undergraduate degree from Montana State University Billings, where she studied Literature, Linguistics, and Spanish, graduating in 2011. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University, graduating magna cum laude in 2017.
Originally from Lennestadt, Germany, Dr. Johnson’s lifelong connection to animals and the natural world inspired her to pursue veterinary medicine. Today, her life is happily shared with a lively menagerie of three horses, three dogs, three chickens, and a duck—each with their own unique personality.
When she’s not caring for patients, you can find Dr. Johnson roaming the fields with her “roany pony,” exploring Montana’s great outdoors with her two- and four-legged family members, gardening, reading, playing the banjo, or creating art.
