Health Certificates for Travel
Traveling with your pet or welcoming a new family member is always a fun and exciting time! Depending on your destination or pet transportation needs, you may be required to provide a health certificate. We have experienced professionals to help you get what you need to make your travel experience is a good one.
Health Certificates for pet travel are anything but routine. Here is a list of just a few things we need to consider while preparing a Health Certificate for your pet:
- Regulations and requirements vary by each Airline and mode of commercial travel.
- Some states like Alaska and Hawaii have special requirements and restrictions, with Hawaii taking up to 6 months in advance of travel to fulfill all requirements before arrival.
- International travel brings different regulations, vaccination and exam time requirements and overall health parameters for each country.
- In addition, none of the commercial travel carriers, states or countries use the same forms!
For the Continental US and Alaska, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico: We will need at least one week’s notice to have a Health Certificate prepared for you. For Hawaii – we will coordinate with a travel vendor to complete the required paperwork.
Please Note: Your pet’s wellness exam must be completed within 10 days of your departure date!
International Travel: (Not including Canada or Mexico): Due to the complexities and frequent government changes, our clinic will refer our clients to outside organizations that specialize in international pet transportation. We will complete the health exam with one of our USDA-accredited veterinarians and provide all requested information to your travel vendor.
So please call us as soon as you know that you will need a Health Certificate so we can get the process started!
